Roast chicken

Our recommendation for the Münchner Hell Leicht

The aroma of roasting chicken alone is enough to make ones mouth water. Roast chicken with crisp, golden-brown skin, is a favorite of many beergarden visitors. But why not roast a chicken yourself and take it with you?

Paulaner roast chicken

Serves 4 persons - preparation time: 15 minutes
Roasting time: 50 minutes

  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt, plus more for the baking tray
  • pepper
  • 1 young roasting chicken, oven-ready (about 2½lb/ 1.2kg)
  • 3 sprigs of parsley
  • 1 tbsp butter

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). In a small bowl, combine the paprika, cayenne pepper, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  2. Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the outside of the chicken and inside the cavity. Place the sprigs of parsley in the cavity along with the butter.
  3. Cover the bottom of a baking tray with a layer of salt about 1/3in (1cm) thick. Place a roasting rack on the tray. Place the chicken on the rack. Roast it in the middle of the oven for about 50 minutes until it is done. The skin should be golden-brown and crisp.
  4. Carve the chicken into four portions and serve it with Bavarian potato salad.
