Historic championship and a big farewell to Lahm & Alonso
Bayern Munich has celebrated its 27th title on May 20th 2017 with the traditional Paulaner “Weißbier” showers. Legendary on this day was not only the new record of five German championship titles in a row – but after the handing over of the trophy, two unique player personalities said farewell.
Philipp Lahm told the fans on his eighth championship celebration "Servus" - after numerous white beer showers and many toasts with the players and fans of FC Bayern. The fans cheered the outgoing captain with a total of 10,000 liters of free beer, with which the brewery kept its promise about donating beer to the fans for every goal in the national league.
Xabi Alonso enjoyed his last championship with FC Bayern to the fullest – and was showered by coach Carlo Ancelotti.
The honor of the first “Weißbier” beer shower for the champions coach secured Arjen Robben for himself. After this premiere, Carlo Ancelotti ran to the „Paulas“ on the edge of the field again and again, to get white beer supply for his "revenge" on his players.
After this great celebration, the players thanked their fans for the support on the balcony of the Munich city hall – once again with powerful sips from the famous 3 l Glasses by Paulaner.
